Esoteric Writing Lab: The Planets
Wednesdays for 8-weeks beginning April 22nd, 11am-1pm PST
Facilitated by Jessica Chappell
Location: Online via Zoom
Recorded for absentees: Yes
Prerequisite: None

This course invites you to develop your own devotional texts, one for each of the classical planets. Each week, we enter a planetary current and write from it using a simple poetic vessel. The form will change each week. We will work with structures such as hymn, blessing, benediction, psalm, refrain, call-and-response, and litany.

Over eight weeks, you will create a personal planetary cycle. By the end of the lab, you will have seven devotional texts, one for each of the classical planets, written in your own voice. These pieces can be used in ritual, meditation, prayer, altar work, or personal practice. The text you write here becomes a living companion you can return to.

You will leave each class with a piece of writing that you created. Expect guided writing, subtle craft, and language that becomes more evocative, devotional, and precise over time.

The goal is not to “write better poetry” in the conventional sense. The goal is to develop a voice that can carry spiritual weight. Language that can bless, clarify, protect, praise, and seal. The final week will be used to refine and share the work, allowing each participant to polish their planetary texts and experience them spoken aloud.

What we will do each week:
A teaching on the planet’s symbolism and tone
A timed “transmission” writing session
A simple constraint (the vessel) to shape the piece
A refinement pass to strengthen rhythm, image, and clarity
Optional sharing to practice reading as consecration

Who this is for:
Students who love esoteric study and want a lived creative practice
Writers who want structure within a spiritual container
Anyone longing for language that feels like prayer, vow, or sacred petition

You will leave with:
One finished planetary text per week (7 total)
A repeatable method for evocative spiritual writing
A stronger command of tone, rhythm, and symbolic imagery

How to prepare:
You’re welcome to dedicate a notebook to this course, along with a pen or pencil you enjoy writing with. Bringing a talisman for the planet we’re working with is recommended, and you can keep it near you as you write. You’re also invited to dress in the planet’s colors for the working, even if it’s just a small accent like jewelry or a scarf. The goal is to embody the planet’s energy each week, enter its current together, and let the writing arise from it.

At 22 Teachings, Jessica leads the Book Club and creates tarot-based ritual classes that invite students to step inside the symbols so that what is read on the page becomes lived, embodied magic. Jessica has always been a seeker, and motherhood initiated her into a new octave of magic. Becoming Bisou’s mother gave her an even clearer sense of why spiritual practice matters in real life, in real time, with tiny hands tugging at the hem of ritual.

Her relationship with the unseen began in childhood, collecting crystals and reading tarot as a way to listen beneath the surface of things. In 2017, she began formal study with Naha at 22 Teachings, where her work in Hermetic Qabalah, ritual magic, and tarot became a dedicated path. She approaches the tarot as a living book of wisdom, a mirror for our human experience, and a practical tool for choosing the next right step when the soul is quietly asking for change.
