I found myself coveting the silver tablet that was mentioned in the chat yesterday during the lodge. Especially when I saw it in gold. Hubba Hubba. That was a bit out of my price range (more than a bit, really – It was over $2K.) so I satiated that with this instead. Thought I’d share for anyone else who might like a more affordable option. (Hopefully this link works, trying to help with testing the forums capabilities and potential snags / glitches.)

I am exploring sharing images you all. Let’s see how this goes. 🙂

This was inspired by AM Lodge on Oct. 23rd + the multi-day rainstorm that began that evening. A rainstorm like it is rare in CA where I live. The two experiences felt special to me.

      Mem? Or Final Mem?

During my transcription last night I came across this and thought I’d ask about it, since it’s left me scratching my head. This looks like a mem to me. Right? It also looks like it’s at the end of a word. So why isn’t it in its final form? There is a heavy amount of final mem use in these Hebrew verses, so why not this one?

      • #33756

So curious! Have you double checked to see if it is the same in other texts? I think it could be a misprint. I just checked my JPS Tanakh, and I don’t see this oddity, all my mem’s are final.

THANK YOU! I didn’t have a copy of the JPS Tanakh when I came across it, but I ordered it almost immediately after so I could check for myself. I think you’re right. Misprint.

    • #33754

It took me three tries to get it right. I really enjoyed color coding the letters to correspond to the appropriate sefirot. And using graph paper made it much easier for me to keep the letters lined up properly. Looking forward to looking at the names closer still 🙂

      Hello Beautiful Humans,
I too am looking forward to lodge this morn. I’m reading through Exodus, and this morning I decided to try reading it out loud to my ancestor alter… and it felt so good! I’ve heard of others who read the Bible to their Christian ancestors, but this was my first try. Now I’m curious if others are incorporating their ancestors into their Shem working? If so, is there a part of your process and/or experience that feels good to share?
      Blessings,
      Melinda

Reviewing last weeks class and pondering on why Gimel (camel) is not found in any of the 72 names. Contemplating whether this is because the corresponding card in the Tarot is the High Priestess and she already holds the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the secret Mysteries? Therefore she already holds the keys on how to free one’s self from pain and suffering. Thoughts anyone?

When we were in class my immediate thought (posted in the chat) to the lack of Gimel was that maybe it’s because The High Priestess is the means by which the message is relayed. If I’m not mistaken another Jen mentioned the same thing. So yeah, I think it’s entirely possible that you’re on to something here.

Hi everyone, I’ve just updated the book list – added links for Sixth and Seventh book of Moses, on the Sacred names by Swart (so good!) and a few books on Astrology/decans, and a few other references. I also added links to download an essay from a GD member that breaks down a lot of the practical aspects of the name, as well as the Vaughan translation of the Ambelain work that I have referenced a lot so far. You will probably want to print out just the chapter on this specific working, I listed the page numbers as well.

Every day it is becoming clearer to me, how very important this work is for us to do as a magical group, and how very needed it is for the focus of light in the world.
I’d also like to do a Magician’s roundtable sometime soon to talk about this all. And I’d like to get an official list of the participants who are going to be performing the ritual, of course people will still come in and out, but I think that knowing who our core group is will be useful.

      Naha,
Have you already included Exodus 12:2 in your considerations re: where to start on the zodiacal wheel? Are one of the options associated with the Jewish new year? It jumped out at me today when I was reading my morning section. It seems significant that the textual context of the 72 names declares a beginning to the calendar when we are looking for a specific starting point on the zodiacal calendar. (I’m super cool with this being a rhetorical question and/or saved for our Shem Working Round Table, or whatever feels most appropriate to you.)

      • #34079
        Naha
        Keymaster

Yes in fact that exact passage is a weighty argument for starting at the beginning of Aries. What it really comes down to is if we are using the stars, or the seasons. By Aries, or the Month of Nisan as per the proclamation in Exodus 12.2 “This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year” it makes sense to start here, Exodus occurs in the month of Nisan, and it fits with all of the other stories of rebirth, renewal, regeneration etc which align with the Spring. But the decans specifically are assigned not to the earth, but to the stars, and so it would be technically incorrect to assign Decan 1 to Aries 1, as the system was invented by Egyptians, and they placed Decan 1 at Sothis – Sirius, the Dog Star (not by Regulus – in Leo, as the GD claims by the way) The debate continues!!!

        • #34101

Ahhhh… so glad Exodus 12:2 is being considered. And I see that it is a bigger puzzle. Thank you so much for the intentionality and thoughtfulness with which you lead us 🙂

I think I’m confusing myself with what we’re supposed to be writing out :/ we’re not simply copying. the 72 names chart, correct? We’re somehow breaking down the letters and reversing part of the order? I’m so sorry, I’m pretty sure we covered this in lecture, but I’m having a hard time remembering exactly what the instructions were. Appreciate any tips, thank you!

      • #34247

Correct Lexi. The ox plow method Naha taught us is threefold. First you write out all the Hebrew letters of verse 19 in a row with no breaks. If you locate my share above, this is my blue line. Then underneath the first row of 72 letters you write out verse 20 in the same format but you start at the end of the verse and line them all up backwards, this is my red line. You know you’ve done it right when the last letter of verse 20 lines up with the first letter of verse 19 & the first letter of verse 20 lines up with the last letter of verse 19. Then, you take the last verse (21) and write it out just like you wrote out verse 19, underneath the first two rows of letters you already have. If you are still referencing my photo, this is my yellow row. So now you’ve got three rows & 72 columns. Read the columns from top to bottom and you are reading the names 🙂

I just wanted to share that I felt very emotional after last weekend’s lodge. Even though we haven’t “officially” begun the working yet, I’m somehow already noticing shifts within myself that I feel are being stirred by this undertaking. I appreciate this. I was so moved by Tami’s words of wisdom and was sharing with another arborist, how she speaks with depth of understanding and zero ego, this is what makes a great teacher and allows the feelings that I think you experienced to flow deeply. It’s one of the many reasons I love her and William too. Remember you may be new to “this” but you’re not new, it’s lifetimes in the making. This is one of the reasons I’m asking you all also to think about who in your life you might ask to offer a blessing for you upon this work as we proceed.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what project to undertake for each of the 72 names. I am a musician, so one idea that came to me in my research was working with the Carnatic ragas. There are 72 ragas, or scales, in classical Carnatic music. They are related to the zodiac and are said to activate 72 nerves in the body. I’ve also thought about relating the Hebrew letters from the names to tones and all the ways our conventional scales tie to the elements, planets, signs. There’s also equal temperament which consists of 72 tones and I am sure other areas in music I have not considered …. Any other musician Arborists exploring these ideas who may be interested in discussing this topic?

Hi all, I am wondering if the deck we are consecrating for the working can be based on the Thoth deck or no, because of the attributions of the letters…I’m guessing not. I got the Tabula Mundi deck after the last tarot roundtable and it’s absolutely stunning, so would like to use it but I’m guessing it would make more sense to use the RWS. Thoughts?
Also, thank you @melinda; I’ve got my graph paper and markers and am copying your homework today 😉

      • #34622
        Naha
        Keymaster

Hi Jen, I think you should use whatever deck you want.
The only difference in letters in Tabula Mundi is that it switches the Emperor (from Heh to Tzaddi) and the Star (from Tzaddi to Heh)
There are other changes like the numbering of Strength (Lust) and Justice (Adjustment) but it doesn’t change the letters.
Since the Tabula Mundi doesn’t have numbers on the Majors, I reorder those two to the RWS order. You might find some interesting insights by using the attributes of the switched letters, or you could use the same deck, but use Emperor with Heh and Tzaddi with the Star.
Remember, the switching of the letters came from a channeling by Crowley – Book of the Law, the statement “Tzaddi is not the Star”
I’ve considered it from every angle, I know A.M Penn has some interesting insights, I’ve never felt connected to the Book of the Law. But Thoth deck and Tabula Mundi: LOVE.

I have 2 stones, both are in the shape of a small wand, they are like crystal pens. One is a green aventurine and the other is a golden sheen obsidian. I wasn’t sure which one I’ll use so I purified both. I’m leaning towards the obsidian though. My idea is to trace the letters on paper with the crystal “pen”. Maybe I can even use ink with them, I’m not sure. I got some pretty cool “Sekhmet” ritual ink from Phillip S. when he visited the school. It think that might be the ticket.

I asked Naha to pick out a key from the Magician’s Mercantile for me to work with solely for the SHEM Working; at a minimum to have on my altar with the Name(s). A lot of the keys are from Israel themselves, and I thought it may be something you are interested in asking for as well (or doing yourself if you are lucky enough to attend Lodge in person).

      Hi all,
As a part of my morning ritual, I vibrated the 72 names as we were given yesterday at the lodge to do before we reconvene. I was thinking about the force to form aspect of ritual, which we discussed at the recent training. After vibrating the names (force) I traced the letters Yod Heh Vav Heh in light and sent energy through my hands into a tealight candle, lit it, and placed it upon the altar (form) that is consecrated for the working. I thought I would share that if anyone else was doing something similar. I was thinking I could also conclude it with vibrating IAO, or just sending the energy through my hands- if anyone has any other thoughts ideas I’d love to hear them 🙂
      Take care! Jen

I’m hoping to create some sort of imagery with the 72 names that incorporates the concept of the Shechina/Divine Fem within the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud. Not completely sure what medium to work in just yet.

I’ve already written out the 72 names, but I decided I want to do it again in my newly purified and consecrated journal. In doing so, I came across a correlation that I kind of love. I don’t know if it’s been noted at all, but does anyone else find it comforting that the 22nd name is yod, yod, yod? Something about that feels so utterly right to me.

      * A discrepancy has been found!! Please note that I have corrected an error on the document where the 72 names are spelled out letter by letter. I’ve replaced the PDF with a new one. The fourteenth name which read Mem Bet Tav is supposed to be Mem Bet Heh.

This one is just for vibrating, so they are spelled out like this: Vav Heh Vav, Yod Lamed Yod so no need for finals.
I put finals on my Hebrew version. More discussion about the finals (and a simpler way to get there) in the Shem Working Roundtable discussion video.
I saw this week Abulafia doesn’t use finals. We will try both ways and decide “on the road”

This was a Q. that came in that I thought would be good to share on here:

Q I have a question about the pronunciation of the 72 names. I apologize if this is something you have already addressed! I’ve come across a couple sources that pronounce the letters differently. In Kaplan’s Meditation and Kabbalah, the chapter on the 72 names shows pronunciation of the letters as being different than the letter names. For example, Vav is vibrated as Va (Wa), Yod – Yo, Lamed – La, Mem – Me etc. I meant to go back through Tami’s Hebrew lectures as I think she might speak on this? I think what I am understanding here is that there is the name of the Hebrew letter and then the sound of that spoken letter. I guess I am just wondering if it matters, when vibrating the names, if one vibrates the name of the letter vs the sound of the letter?

A.To you question, firstly, isn’t that book amazing! I have really been loving getting deeper into it. This is something we did discuss but I’m not exactly sure where, it might have been last week actually? I had a pretty thorough discussion of this with Tami. I’ll touch on it again tomorrow. There are all different ways to pronounce, and its kind of like how the Tetragrammaton has been approximated by different traditions as Yaweh, or Jehovah, but we spell it out Yod Heh Vav Heh as a way to honor that it is beyond our understanding the “true pronunciation of the name of God”. I’m taking this same approach with the 72 names. Some say the first name is Vehu, you’ll find that in the Lenain book, but the method of calling it Va He Va comes from Abraham Abulafia. Thats where Kaplan gets it from in his book. This is explained as using the “natural vowels” .
What you are calling the “sound of the spoken letter” depends on the vowel marks, so Vav could be Va, Ve, Vi Vo etc. Abulafia choses Va because thats the vowel sound of the letter name itself. So the system he uses does make sense. I did consider trying this method with the group, but the method I have chosen is to vibrate the letters, not the letter sounds, because it is consistent with all of the other rituals we do, for instance the Invocation of the Keys, or the tetragrammaton as stated above. When we vibrate each letter, we honor it, and we are still getting the essence of the name. If you want to try to do the vibration with the technique from Mediation and Kabbalah, I encourage you to do it! You could try it throughout the week and see if it feels good to you. Like many things, its not “one is right or wrong” just different techniques. The one I am avoiding entirely is trying to call it Vehu for instance, that seems too forced like YHVH = Jehovah.

Quick share for anyone who uses the Tanakh and might have been scrambling to find the Psalm from today’s working. I use Lenain’s book (the pink one) and the Tanakh. In Lenain’s book it says the Psalm that correlates to the second name is Psalms 21:20, (it also adds a footnote clarification that it is from verse 19 of Psalm 21). Niether of these were right for me. Psalm 21 only has 14 verses. I went down that fact finding rabbit hole however and found that – as far as the Tanakh is concerned – the entry we’re looking for is Psalm 22:20.

Thought I’d pass this along in case anybody else needed it.

I am experiencing a lot of revisitings of themes. Naha mentioned headaches and prescient and I’ve had those experiences this week. The highest is Thursday I said out loud to a witness that I expected to have communications in a legal matter and the phone call came an hour later. I’m scheduled for 1-11. Thank you for sharing this story Robin. It reminded me of the teaching of the hands and heart. . . I realize now after reading that this is making more sense of my current situation today. Both emotionally and physically. I have had such anger in my heart /emotion and my hands both developed horrible carpal tunnel out of no where today. I figure it’s the working but definitely not enjoying this part.

I too have thoughts of justice coming forward in the world and in my life, which is a first. I wonder how much forgiveness plays a role in this all.

I’m also curious to know how the color correspondence is found. Is it in correlation to the decans? Something else? I tried finding it in Lenain’s book but didn’t see it mentioned anywhere. Is it elsewhere perhaps?

The correspondence of 79 to gold through the atomic number has me chasing the tao of physics teachings…”, it is the atomic number alone that determines the chemical properties of an element; and it is for this reason that an element can be defined as consisting of any mixture of atoms with a given atomic number. “. Which is gematria in chemistry naming! And this tidbit
“The concept of atomic number evolved from the historic research of Henry Gwyn-Jeffreys Moseley in the 1910s. Hi Lexi, Great question. Pronunciation is based on the vowels used not on the letters, that’s why there are so many conflicting transliterations. All original texts are written without vowels. Unless you have a very deep knowledge of the Hebrew language (root words, tenses, contextual clues), it’s a guess as to how to pronounce words. I hope this helps.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I really have not had some profound or deep messages or even connection to the work the last few weeks despite the profundity of things that occurred during the prep phase the last few months of the year. I have not even inspired to create anything. However, just within the last couple of days since our time in the Lodge, it is as if the lantern was truly lit. So if you have been feeling like I have been with not having the profound insights you expected (yes expectation bit me in the ass), then this message is for you; don’t be discouraged.

Here’s my new groove at the moment that has helped me experience things in a different way: After the Lodge, I have been going down the gematria rabbit hole. Now I’m also reading about the letters in the SHEM grim by Farrell, and then looking at the associated paths in Greer’s Paths of Wisdom. When I read I’m not just reading meanings, I’m looking at the association of the gematria, letter and path within the context of the meaning of the psalm and the things going on in my life as we speak. What can this psalm within these numbers, letters and intelligences teach me about myself, Source, and the blending of the two.

      TOPIC: Large Victorian silver whistle

      Hi guys,
last night I was lucid dreaming
and an unknown lady came to me
and gave me a bunch of small packages.

She said they were gifts for me.

      I opened one
and it was a really long silver whistle with some type of embroidery (like Victorian style).

The best I could find on the internet was this:

It was a bit longer than this
and the patrons were different …

Do any of you know the meaning of whistles ?

I´ ve tried looking for information
but I am not even sure where to look at.

I have only being able to find a relationship with transcendental whistling (Chángxiào).

Good morning fellow arborists- I wanted to share how I’ve been vibrating the names as it feels very powerful for me. Since the beginning I’ve been linking the numerology of the day to the number of times I vibrate the name of the week. Then I vibrate all the names we’ve worked with thus far together that many times as well.

      So today I will vibrate Ayin-lamed- mem x5 then Vav-hay-vav-yod-lamed-yod-Samech-yod-tet-ayin-lamed-mem x5

I do this at the end of my morning rituals before divination. It’s been a nice way for me to connect the day with the name and a way to link the energy of the names we’ve already worked with to feel them together.

      Blessings- Cortney

Thank you for bringing in the cube of space with the 5th name 🙂 I had a clear vision on the east/west axis of Bastet in the East and Sekhmet in the West. I linked Bastet to the 4 of Wands and the idea of the Convergence of Paths. I linked Sekhmet to Strength, to the Serpent and Yesod, so that as I move on this E/W path I attract strength. I then had a clear vision on the north/west axis of Nebt-Het on the South and Ausar and the East. So in that direction I had the ideas of Death and Resurrection. Ausar can also be linked to Mem and the Hanged Man. I feel like this will be a powerful week, attracting strength and positive change into my life. Thanks for guiding us through this amazing work Naha. Michelle.

Last night (it’s night for me) I had a vision in the interior temple for the first time. I don’t usually “see” anything except what I intentionally visualize. It was a very clear image of an intensely bright sun over a sea. Sounds simple I know, but for someone who doesn’t usually see clearly, it was quite vivid. It brought to mind the 10 of swords, as if I was seeing from the shore, but without all the darkness. The sun was close to the horizon and I couldn’t tell if it was rising or setting, and then it set. Ok, I understood, a chapter is closing; something is ending. But the sun will rise anew. Many of you spoke of change in the chat and I’ve been getting the same kinds of messages in my readings lately. This is the transformation I’ve been seeking. It’s happening. I’m in awe of what a profound effect this work is having on us, individually and collectively. I’m so deeply honored and grateful to be a part of this with all of you and with Naha as such an amazing and magical guide 🙏🏻💖

Hi all. I was logged out and not able to comment (doh!) So a collective WOW to all the comments. I’m really heavy into the vibrations and the resonance in my meat suit. But the big little thing is I’ve had the sensation of a muzzle in my right palm ( Ive been kinda to obsessed with horse imagery lately). I assumed my familiarity with that feeling of the velvet nose and whiskers androitly and gently opening the hand searching for the treat was a physical memory of a certain equine of my childhood. This week tho it became evident the muzzle is attached to a camel.

The camel can survive for a week without water and months without food. When I searched what they eat, it’s pretty much everything they can find. Including plants with thorns. The answer to what do camels not eat was “poisonous plants”. They like seeds a lot. MHSh as healer must nourish. Both the healer and those under their care must replenish themselves. Thoughts. Of the fruit of the tree and what we take and what we offer.

This resonates deeply with me…I really love the way you phrased it, “Both the healer and those under their care must replenish themselves.” It’s really easy to beat ourselves up and push without stopping, it’s so much harder to rest, replenish and remain still. That was also a message I felt come through in the Temple of Malkut the other night…

      Friendly offering

If you have something show up in IT and want to explore the symbolism around it (I’ve been doing this a lot lately), I have a ton of books on symbolism and would be happy to look it up and send you pictures of the text from various books. I don’t need to know the context in which it presented itself, just the “thing”. Symbolism research is something I’m deeply connected to so please don’t hesitate to let me know what you are looking for!

If you were in the Roundtable tonight then you’ll probably recall my asking for more information on the Elders, and then more specifically about their physical appearance as I was not expecting one of them to appear the way that they did in the IT. Naha said to look at Godwin’s Cabalistic Encyclopedia for correspondences but had nothing on the physical descriptions. Just finished the last bit of reading I had for this evening and decided to look up the Tribe of Israel associated with Aries, Gad. The picture that showed up when I hit enter has the same exact appearance including the yellow, orange and black garment he was wearing. 5th image on the webpage is what populated.

Wow. Thanks for the hint Brandy! My search helped me understand why I saw armor and a helmet and visor. The seen and unseen and warriors. A crazy thing is yesterday I was researching my father’s family and found they founded a dairy and their cattle were highly sought after- I had been told it was a”farm”. The tribe of Gad were known as warriors and sought land east of the Jordan river for cattle and sheep grazing.

Watched the Roundtable from the other night and am completely blown away by all of the incredible creative projects! So inspiring. I’m thinking of creating some sterling pendants of the hexagrams; got to get on it!!

The roundtable was wonderful, so inspiring. I hope to tune in to the next one, in real time! I also want to cast my vote for using telegram. It’s more of a conversational format, and super easy to share images!
