The Philosopher’s Flame: Dante’s Divine Comedy, a 2-part series
Thursday August 20th and 27th from 6pm – 7:15 PST
Teacher: Manuel Casanueva
Prerequisites: None
Recorded for absentees: Yes
The Divine Comedy stands among the central works of the Western tradition. Its journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise explores the human soul, tracing its passage from confusion to wisdom, from exile to illumination, and from longing to the contemplation of the Divine.
Across two evenings, we will explore Dante’s symbolic universe, its philosophical foundations, and its mystical structure. Each realm reveals a distinct stage of the soul’s ascent through a sequence of encounters, trials, and transformations.
More than seven centuries after its composition, The Divine Comedy remains a meditation on virtue, love, spiritual transformation, and the return of the soul to its source.
